Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read and hashed in your browser, so it can be private or very large without being sent anywhere.
Which hash should I use?
SHA-256 for most purposes. MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for checking downloads but are not secure against deliberate tampering.
What is HMAC?
A hash mixed with a secret key, used to sign messages and API requests. Enter a key to get HMAC-SHA results.
