Frequently asked questions
How much storage does a 4MP camera use?
With H.265 at 15 fps, about 1.5–2 Mbps, or roughly 15–20 GB per day for continuous recording. Busy scenes and night noise use more.
How much does H.265 save?
About 40–50% compared with H.264. Smart codecs such as H.265+ can save more on quiet scenes.
How accurate is this?
It uses typical bitrates. For an exact figure, enter the bitrate shown in each camera’s video settings.
Does motion recording save space?
Yes. If there is motion 30% of the time, you need about 30% of the space, plus a little for pre- and post-recording.
